Bricks and Vines Stipple Drawing - Stipple drawing is an artistic technique where the artist places an intricate series of small dots together to achieve continuous tone in a drawing.

Old Window at Santorini On a recent trip to Greece, I visited several of the islands. Santorini was the most picturesque of all. Lots of old buildings, doors and windows, one of which I captured above. This pen and ink stipple drawing also has a light wash of blue on the windows.

Tulip Poplar Leaf While walking the trails at the NC Arboretum this fall, I picked up several tulip poplar leaves along with sassafras, rhododendron, oak and maple, all of which had brilliant colors as we work our way to a glorious fall. This leaf was drawn using the stipple technique with pen and ink and then filled in with colored pencils.

Stand Up Straight! Ah, Fall is in the air. While walking around my yard I picked up a bag full of these beautiful maple leaves and couldn't wait to put pen and pencil to paper. What beautiful colors nature has to show us.
