Barbara Sammons is an award-winning photographer and published writer with over 45 years behind the camera. Her favorite subjects to photograph are Junkyard Cars and Trucks and Mother Nature. Her love of travel has taken her to Egypt, Italy, France, England and most of North America.
Photography is a passion and a means of self-expression for Barbara. “Why do you want to take a picture of that old rusty car?” I’m often asked. “Tell me its story” I say and then I’ll tell you why. “Well, you see, Martha and I drove that car to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon … she sure was a beauty, and Martha, too!” “That was the first car I ever drove back on my Granddad’s farm.” “You see, this here truck took me all the way to Mount Mitchell in the snow storm.” And that is why I want to take a picture of that old rusty car as I can hear the joy and love in your voice.
Barbara is also an artist. Her favorite medium is pen and ink, watercolors and colored pencils. Her designs range from botanical drawings to very whimsical inspirations.
Barbara currently resides in Southport, North Carolina and is a former professional chef, graphic designer, marketing professional and master gardener.
